Base Salary
$164k - $246k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build, optimize, and productionize large-scale machine learning models for search ads, recommendations ranking, or search retrieval.
- Own ML systems end to end across data and feature pipelines, training, evaluation, production serving, monitoring, and iteration.
- Apply machine learning and information retrieval techniques to improve relevance, personalization, buyer engagement, and seller outcomes.
- Design and run online and offline A/B experiments measuring model effectiveness, efficiency, latency, and buyer impact.
- Investigate and resolve nuanced model and system behavior issues and collaborate with product and analytics partners to improve products.
- Work cross-functionally with software engineers, applied scientists, data scientists, product managers, designers, and analytics partners.
- Depending on team placement, develop retrieval and ranking systems, ad allocation, user modeling, personalized ranking, multi-objective optimization, intent prediction, dual-encoder and hybrid retrieval, or large-scale indexing and serving.
Requirements
- Track record applying statistical and machine learning techniques to real-world problems.
- Expertise or experience in information retrieval, search, recommendations, ads, natural language processing, deep learning, multi-modal learning, or reinforcement learning.
- Hands-on experience training, deploying, monitoring, debugging, and iterating on production ML systems in search, recommendations, and/or ads.
- Production experience building large-scale ML systems with Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow/TFX.
- Ability to write and manipulate data at large scale and produce understandable, testable, maintainable code.
- Ability to create requirements and lead a team from design through delivery.
- Collaborative and empathetic communication across disciplines, with attention to the impact of work on end users.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related engineering field with at least two years of practical machine learning experience, or equivalent experience.
