$180k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, write, and maintain firmware and low-level device drivers for automotive-grade components and AV sensors.
- Execute board bring-up, hardware validation, and low-level software deployment for custom autonomous computing platforms.
- Collaborate with electrical and hardware engineering teams on hardware-software interfaces, schematic reviews, and component selection.
- Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and software profiling to debug system-level issues and optimize sensor data pipelines.
- Ensure strict timing and network synchronization across the vehicle.
- Contribute to embedded software architecture, code quality, scalable deployment practices, and team mentoring.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience developing embedded software with modern C/C++ in RTOS or bare-metal environments.
- Strong experience writing firmware and device drivers for automotive-grade components, SoCs, and autonomous vehicle sensors.
- Hands-on experience with sensor integration, board bring-up, hardware debugging tools, and automotive interfaces and vehicle networks.
- Experience taking embedded hardware systems from prototyping and third-party integration through production deployment.
- Experience with hardware-software co-design, schematic reviews, and component selection is preferred.
- Understanding of functional safety standards, including ISO 26262 and ASIL B through ASIL D, and coding guidelines such as MISRA C/C++ is preferred.
- Experience with distributed timing, hardware synchronization, PTP/gPTP, IEEE 802.1AS, and hardware PPS routing is preferred.
- Experience with NVIDIA DRIVE, Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride, and hardware accelerators such as GPUs, DSPs, and NPUs is preferred.
Benefits
- Base salary for Sunnyvale, CA-based roles is USD $180,000-$200,000 per year, with eligibility for Uber’s bonus program and potential equity awards and other compensation.
