Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles and AI techniques to solve complex problems and build software solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features.
  • Apply Microsoft’s responsible AI practices to software systems.
  • Learn and incorporate new engineering methods, AI techniques, and machine-learning techniques.
  • Seek feedback and apply internal or industry best practices to improve technical solutions.
  • Complete software projects collaboratively and manage time effectively.
  • Improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, performance, monitoring, and operations at scale.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, with at least one semester or term remaining after the internship, or currently pursuing a master’s degree under the same conditions.
  • Preferred: one year of programming experience in an object-oriented language.
  • Preferred: understanding of data structures, algorithms, computer science fundamentals, and AI/machine-learning concepts.
  • Preferred: experience with AI/ML projects, machine-learning models, large datasets, or real-world AI solutions.
  • Preferred: familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Preferred: experience with GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Microsoft Roo Code, including understanding their strengths and limitations.
