Base Salary
$141k - $191k/yr
Responsibilities
- Provide architectural leadership for AWS infrastructure decisions across the Home Software Platform.
- Design scalable, resilient, cost-efficient infrastructure spanning APIs, services, data and streaming pipelines, compute, storage, and device-to-cloud data flows.
- Define infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform, AWS CDK, or equivalent.
- Drive security architecture through threat modeling, secrets management, network segmentation, data protection, IAM, encryption, key management, and audit logging.
- Partner with SRE teams on observability, reliability, SLOs, cloud cost visibility, and optimization.
- Review product engineering designs, resolve complex infrastructure and security problems, and mentor engineering teams.
- Develop multi-year platform architecture, technology strategy, and infrastructure and security roadmaps.
- Lead build-versus-buy evaluations and guide integration of infrastructure and security tooling.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience with substantial cloud infrastructure and platform engineering focus.
- Deep hands-on experience architecting production systems on a major public cloud, preferably AWS.
- Several years of hands-on security engineering experience across secure architecture, identity and access management, and threat modeling for large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency with infrastructure-as-code, containers and orchestration, CI/CD, and modern observability tooling.
- Deep familiarity with AWS security and networking services, including IAM, KMS, VPC, GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail, Config, and WAF.
- Experience using Terraform or AWS CDK at scale, including module design and policy-as-code guardrails.
- Experience building high-volume distributed cloud platforms; connected-device, OTA update, edge computing, or telemetry pipeline experience is a plus.
- Experience securing consumer data and connected-device fleets under privacy or compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes/EKS and event-driven and streaming architectures.
- Practitioner-level experience building or deploying AI/LLM-powered applications and tooling, including Claude through Amazon Bedrock.
- Familiarity with HEMS, demand response, utility APIs, and grid-services integrations is preferred.
- Strong technical communication, mentorship, design review, and pragmatic technical leadership skills.
