Responsibilities
- Analyze on-premises and Azure transactional database environments and evaluate and plan migrations to Azure.
- Develop and enhance PL/SQL and T-SQL scripts to migrate data from source databases to target databases.
- Identify workarounds for issues and corner cases observed during migrations.
- Develop test plans and test cases to demonstrate database readiness after migration.
- Document detailed designs and migration steps for continued migration from development to production.
Requirements
- 15 years of experience in database design, development, or migration on Azure.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
- Experience migrating large databases of 1 TB across multiple database engines, including PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and MariaDB.
- Experience with heterogeneous database migrations and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience in database administration, high availability and disaster recovery, monitoring setup, backup and restore, and replication.
- Experience with Bash, Perl, or Python scripting.
- A master's or bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.
- High-end troubleshooting and communication skills.
