Responsibilities
- Own the health, uptime, and end-to-end success of deployed imaging systems.
- Develop and extend reliable, observable, maintainable production services for edge-compute devices.
- Triage and resolve issues across software, firmware, networking, and hardware.
- Support field operators and non-technical users in diagnosing deployed-system issues.
- Represent the team as a technical subject matter expert during internal and customer integrations.
- Build broad understanding across hardware, firmware, networking, and software to improve system behavior and graceful degradation.
- Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and platform engineers to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
- Travel approximately 15% for field testing and customer integrations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience with meaningful production ownership after deployment.
- Strong Python and C++ skills.
- 8+ years of experience working in Linux-based environments, including bare-metal hardware.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across networking, services, and hardware interactions with incomplete system visibility.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical problems to non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to travel approximately 15% for field testing and customer integrations.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
- Preferred experience with gRPC or similar RPC frameworks, Linux service management and observability, React/JSX, Nix or NixOS, and fielded or deployed systems.
