Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the technical vision for Ruby on Rails applications and backend services.
- Build and maintain secure APIs, authentication, authorization, and data flows.
- Design scalable solutions on AWS using RDS, Lambda, and Kubernetes workloads.
- Improve API performance and develop effective caching and database strategies.
- Establish and improve deployment pipelines, coding standards, and code review practices.
- Embed security-by-default practices across the software development lifecycle and support compliance with ISO 27001 and SOC2.
- Collaborate with frontend teams, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver features.
- Create technical documentation and design specifications.
- Respond to critical production incidents, lead root cause analysis, and drive prevention strategies.
- Mentor colleagues and help shape engineering practices.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails.
- Good understanding of JavaScript, TypeScript, and MVC architecture.
- Strong database management experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL, AWS RDS, and ORM tools such as ActiveRecord.
- Proficiency with RSpec, Git, mocking, and unit testing principles.
- Experience with GraphQL APIs and AWS cloud environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines in fast-paced or scaling organizations.
- Proven experience designing and implementing features using AI-powered workflows, AI agents, and automation.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity while producing clean, high-quality code.
- Experience mentoring others and contributing to architectural and engineering-practice decisions.
