Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Remote

Base Salary
$125k - $188k/yr
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve BigCommerce’s Cloud Development Environment.
- Help engineers improve productivity by removing environment-related impediments.
- Manage cloud-hosted virtual machines in Google Cloud Platform.
- Maintain and evolve the virtual-machine provisioning process.
- Use GCP, Nomad, Consul, Vault, Terraform, Packer, Puppet, and CircleCI to provide an effective development environment.
- Maintain Ruby and Golang services that orchestrate infrastructure.
- Educate engineers on tool usage and process improvements.
- Respond to development-environment support requests.
- Document technical aspects and user flows of features.
- Collaborate with a globally distributed team.
- Assist in defining the team roadmap and gather requirements from engineers.
Requirements
- A comprehensive software engineering boot camp, a CS, CE, SW, or MIS degree, an equivalent degree, or relevant work experience.
- At least a few years of experience building complex products.
- Knowledge of modern technologies and tools, with the ability to select appropriate tools and patterns.
- Solid understanding of modern programming and design principles and ability to write tested, sustainable code.
- Strong communication, collaboration, teaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead by example, own work, and take responsibility for results.
