Responsibilities
- Design and implement architectural systems for Stellaris expansions.
- Lead technical decisions within the gameplay domain and contribute to broader architectural discussions.
- Improve, refactor, and maintain game systems for performance and long-term codebase health.
- Investigate and fix complex and systemic bugs.
- Profile and optimise game systems to deliver a smooth player experience.
- Collaborate with designers, artists, and QA on technical and design decisions.
- Support the growth of junior and mid-level programmers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and hands-on guidance.
- Plan and scope work independently while identifying risks early.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional C++ experience in game development, including work on a live game with an active player base.
- Ability to navigate and work across a large, complex codebase.
- Ability to own and drive architecture decisions within a domain.
- Interest in performance and profiling, supported by practical experience.
- Strong communication skills and confidence contributing to design discussions.
- Comfort with Git and Visual Studio.
- Good written and spoken English.
