Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Layla’s cross-platform mobile experience in Flutter and Dart for iOS and Android.
- Own mobile feature delivery from low-level design through API integration, data modeling, release, and support.
- Build conversational trip-planning and booking features that connect to Layla and Expedia Group services.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and backend engineering to create intuitive, accessible, performant mobile flows.
- Drive mobile quality and reliability through automated testing, continuous integration and delivery, performance monitoring, and observability.
- Integrate AI/ML-enabled capabilities such as assistant-driven planning, personalization, and recommendations safely into mobile features.
- Contribute to native interoperability and establish reusable Flutter development patterns and engineering best practices.
- Lead technical design, drive architectural improvements, and mentor other engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Professional experience building and shipping production mobile applications with Flutter and Dart.
- Experience delivering applications to both iOS and Android from a shared codebase, including API integration, data modeling, and network/offline data handling.
- Ability to design and maintain testable, maintainable, and performant mobile codebases using modern frameworks, tooling, and libraries.
- Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products.
- Advanced proficiency with Flutter/Dart, mobile UI/UX, state management, and performance optimization is preferred.
- Experience with native iOS using Swift or SwiftUI and/or Android using Kotlin or Jetpack through platform channels or native modules is preferred.
- Experience leading technical design for complex mobile initiatives involving architecture decisions, API contracts, and data models across multiple services or domains is preferred.
- Experience building accessible and inclusive mobile interfaces is preferred.
- Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into mobile applications with attention to safety and responsible use is preferred.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude is preferred.
- Experience driving modularization, design patterns, platform standardization, and mentoring engineers is preferred.
