Core Software Engineer (C++) - Remote

Responsibilities
- Analyze and optimize the performance of the core ClickHouse database, including query optimization, distributed query optimization, relational operators, caching, and SIMD-level optimizations
- Create and extend performance tests using real-world and synthetic datasets to prevent database performance regressions
- Support the Support Engineering team in debugging advanced customer performance issues
- Collaborate with other core teams to assess the performance impact of new features and provide testing guidance
- Resolve issues, review and finish pull requests, and answer questions from the ClickHouse open-source community
Requirements
- Solid professional software development experience in C++ and experience with Unix systems
- Strong knowledge of database internals and design
- Experience in performance engineering, preferably involving databases or comparable high-performance systems
- Strong production debugging and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams and communicate well
- Willingness to engage with the open-source community through code reviews, issue resolution, and technical support
- Experience with ClickHouse, security, privacy, compliance, TCP/IP, network programming, cloud infrastructure services, Kubernetes, public technical talks, or open-source contributions is preferred
