Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship a summer project addressing a real Edge team problem with mentor guidance.
- Write Java backend services that interact with thousands of on-premise devices.
- Flash, configure, and debug Linux-based edge devices operating over unreliable networks.
- Build fleet observability and remote diagnostic tooling for hardware and connectivity issues.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions with the engineering team.
- Present completed work to the engineering organization at the end of the internship.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid programming fundamentals in Java, Python, or another object-oriented language, with willingness to work in Java.
- Familiarity with Linux and comfort using a terminal.
- Interest or experience in networking, radios, embedded systems, or IoT through coursework or personal projects.
- Demonstrated hands-on tinkering, building, taking systems apart, or difficult debugging.
- Clear communication and eagerness to ask questions.
- Preferred: coursework or projects in embedded systems, networking, or RF communication.
- Preferred: experience with AWS or another cloud platform.
- Preferred: a project involving Raspberry Pi, Arduino, a microcontroller, or home automation.
- Preferred: interest in healthcare technology or building for underserved users.
