Responsibilities
- Design and develop moderately complex software for safety-critical airframe-specific and airframe-independent functionality.
- Write and integrate software using C, Python, C++, C#, Java, assembly language, or other selected languages.
- Configure flight decks and integrate Garmin products for aircraft OEM customers.
- Manage OEM relationships through proactive communication, requirements advocacy, feedback management, and expectation setting.
- Develop and maintain deliverables aligned with OEM engineering, flight-test, and production schedules.
- Perform code reviews, root cause analysis, corrective-action planning, technical research, effort estimation, and process improvement.
- Mentor less experienced Software Engineer 1 team members and provide technical leadership on derivative software projects.
- Collaborate with program coordination, systems, system test, human factors, and flight operations teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field, plus at least one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience developing moderately complex software in C, C++, C#, Java, assembly language, or other selected languages.
- Proficiency with configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers.
- Academic performance with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is generally expected.
- Preferred qualifications include a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and prior work or internship experience in design, particularly for consumer products.
