Responsibilities
- Create and execute designs for small sets of new software functionality using C, C++, assembly language, or other selected languages.
- Work with communications protocols including I2C, SPI, and UART, with BLE experience preferred.
- Use software engineering and hardware-debugging tools including debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Assist with component datasheet reviews and schematic design reviews.
- Perform peer code reviews, technical root cause analysis, corrective-action planning, and technical research.
- Estimate effort, evaluate technology options, suggest process improvements, and provide feedback on electrical design aspects.
- Potentially serve as technical leader or Lead Software Engineer for a derivative software project.
- Mentor less experienced Software Engineer 1 engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field and at least 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience developing moderately complex software in C, C++, assembly language, or other selected languages.
- Proficiency with relevant software engineering tools, including configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers.
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 as a general rule.
- Preferred: cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
- Preferred: previous work or internship experience in design, particularly for consumer products.
- Preferred but not required: BLE experience.
