Base Salary
$161k - $274k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop Voice AI applications spanning speech recognition, conversation management, and speech generation.
- Own end-to-end language and locale support, including linguistic instructions, normalization, and pronunciation rules.
- Analyze multilingual speech problems, diagnose production call failures, and drive fixes with engineering teams.
- Design linguistic experiments to guide speech technology and vendor choices.
- Build tooling to analyze linguistic problems at scale and contribute code to user-facing features.
- Partner with linguists, engineers, product managers, and customers, while mentoring colleagues and promoting knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
- Specialization in phonetics, acoustics, psycholinguistics, or applied/interdisciplinary cognitive science.
- 4+ years of large-scale experiment design and quantitative research experience in industry or applied research.
- Hands-on experience building Voice AI applications and development experience with Python or similar languages.
- Deep knowledge of the structure of several languages; fluency in a language other than English is a plus.
- Experience evaluating speech recognition and speech synthesis systems is an asset.
- Experience building applications on top of LLMs, including prompt engineering, is an asset.
- Experience with AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Windsurf, plus strong stakeholder communication and critical-thinking skills.

- Base pay of $161,300 - $274,200, plus equity when applicable, variable/incentive compensation, and benefits.
