Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Design platform architecture and implement automation for landing zones, networking, and security infrastructure in new AWS regions.
- Create, document, test, and support infrastructure-as-code modules and internal infrastructure tools.
- Build tools and services supporting continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment of highly available infrastructure.
- Develop tooling to help migrate infrastructure from a monolithic repository to individual service repositories for the internal developer platform.
- Lead implementation and scaling of critical platform features while establishing code standards and design practices.
- Mentor and support developers using and extending infrastructure-as-code tooling and support systems.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience specializing in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- Hands-on object-oriented programming experience is required.
- Hands-on experience writing Terraform Providers is required.
- Expertise with at least one public cloud offering, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including infrastructure SDKs.
- Expertise with infrastructure-as-code framework internals and SDKs, including Terraform providers or Ansible modules and plugins.
- Experience maintaining large-scale production and nonproduction infrastructure workloads.
- Experience delivering continuous integration, deployment, and delivery of cloud infrastructure at scale for technology teams of hundreds of developers.
- Experience leading the build and scale of critical platform features.
- Experience or exposure to AI tools such as Claude is a nonessential qualification.
