Base Salary
$160k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and own the architecture and evolution of Member Growth systems across pods.
- Identify high-leverage problems in the funnel, platform, and engineering practices and add them to the roadmap with proposals.
- Write technical designs and RFCs containing architecture diagrams, options, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
- Make system-level decisions about eventing, workflow orchestration, caching, asynchronous pipelines, and new services.
- Design for horizontal scale and consistent low latency under real production traffic.
- Decompose services into scalable components and plan migration paths.
- Partner with Frontend Core, Backend Core, Data, Product, Design, and other teams on shared systems, boundaries, and contracts.
- Drive ambiguous, multi-team problems to completion, including planning, ownership, and removing blockers.
- Build consensus with engineers, Product, and leadership and connect engineering decisions to measurable outcomes.
- Define quality, reliability, observability, design, code, and operational standards; mentor and develop engineers.
- Own SLAs for Member Growth surfaces and use AI tooling to increase team output.
Requirements
- 8+ years building and operating high-traffic, customer-facing systems, including technical leadership across multiple teams.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, object-oriented design, relational database design, and systems reasoning.
- Experience with eventing, workflow orchestration, distributed-systems tradeoffs, caching, asynchronous pipelines, idempotency, and backpressure.
- Experience working across multiple layers and stacks, including PHP/Magento, React/Next, and AWS.
- Working knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, and SQS, plus reasoning about relational, document, and wide-column databases.
- Track record of shipping high-impact customer-facing features at scale and setting technical direction through proposals, adopted architectures, migrations, and standards.
- Strong written and visual communication skills using diagrams, design documents, and proposals.
- Experience influencing engineers, Product, and leadership across teams without formal authority.
- Experience mentoring and measurably developing other engineers.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic or Datadog to maintain SLA, Apdex, and error-rate targets.
- Growth, e-commerce, subscription, or membership experience is preferred, including funnels, experimentation, attribution, pixels, payments, or recurring billing.
