Responsibilities
- Design and build AI-enabled web applications, APIs, agents, document-intelligence solutions, computer-vision applications, and workflow integrations.
- Turn ambiguous business problems into validated prototypes and production solutions, including assessing, hardening, rewriting, integrating, buying, or discontinuing existing prototypes.
- Build secure, reusable integrations, MCPs, and APIs with LEONI enterprise and engineering systems while respecting identity, access, and data-governance boundaries.
- Create evaluations, test datasets, regression tests, safeguards, human-review processes, and fallbacks for probabilistic AI outputs.
- Protect AI solutions against prompt injection, retrieval-related data leakage, unintended agent actions, and relevant GDPR, EU AI Act, and information-security risks.
- Monitor AI quality, usage, latency, cost, and operational failures, and manage model updates, deprecations, and migrations.
- Build reusable AI services, templates, starter repositories, reference implementations, and standard interfaces for document processing, retrieval, model access, authentication, logging, and evaluation.
- Promote modular design, version control, automated testing, code review, architecture reviews, security reviews, and responsible use of AI coding assistants.
- Collaborate with business, AI, IT architecture, IT security, data owners, and process experts, and coach IT engineers or citizen developers when needed.
Requirements
- Typically 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years building AI- or LLM-based solutions, or equivalent demonstrated impact.
- Strong experience building and operating full-stack, pro-code enterprise applications with fundamentals in architecture, APIs, integration, testing, security, and deployment.
- Proven experience building and running AI and agentic solutions in production, including evaluation, regression testing, and quality monitoring.
- Experience with Python and/or TypeScript on a major cloud platform, ideally Azure.
- Demonstrated ability to solve open-ended business problems hands-on with AI from initial discovery through reliable production operation.
- A product mindset focused on end users, business outcomes, and long-term operation.
- Fluent English and German at least at B2 level, or willingness to reach B2 within the first year.
- Preferred experience working across business functions and technical teams.
- Preferred experience with LLM and agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or comparable libraries.
- Preferred familiarity with Microsoft enterprise technologies and tools.
- Preferred experience with industrial AI, visual inspection, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, MLOps, traditional machine learning, or computer-vision models.
- Experience in manufacturing, Tier 1 automotive supply, automotive, smart-factory topics, or shop-floor data integration is advantageous.
