Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical direction for AI capabilities across HotDocs, including model management, LLM and agent orchestration, retrieval, evaluation, cost, and latency management.
- Deliver AI-powered features from prototype to production at enterprise scale using maintainable .NET Core and React code.
- Lead adoption of AI across engineering through coding assistants, agentic workflows, test generation, code review, documentation, tooling selection, and impact measurement.
- Establish evaluation harnesses, guardrails, observability, and AI governance for accurate, explainable, and safe AI in regulated environments.
- Apply .NET and React expertise to modernize legacy code and improve scalability, reliability, performance, security, and readability.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, pairing, technical sessions, and written guidance.
- Partner with product management, architecture, security, and customer-facing teams on AI roadmaps and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Extend CI/CD pipelines for AI workloads with prompt and model versioning, automated evaluation gates, monitoring, and cost tracking.
- Ensure AI features address customer needs and provide responsive, transparent, accessible user experiences.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of professional software development experience, including principal-, lead-, or staff-level technical experience.
- Strong hands-on skills in .NET Core and C#, plus React and TypeScript or similar single-page application frameworks.
- Demonstrable experience designing and shipping production AI solutions involving LLM integration, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, MCP, and agentic or tool-calling systems.
- Hands-on experience with cloud AI platforms and services such as Azure OpenAI or AI Foundry, and orchestration frameworks such as Semantic Kernel.
- Experience building and maintaining REST APIs, Entity Framework, and Azure SQL or SQL Server.
- Experience evaluating and improving AI system quality through test sets, benchmarking, human review loops, and handling non-deterministic behavior.
- Understanding of web applications and AI-specific security, including secure coding, prompt injection, and sensitive customer data protection.
- Experience with Git, pull requests, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps.
- Comfort working in agile teams with tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Practical experience using AI tooling within the software development lifecycle and adopting it effectively across engineering teams.
- Track record of technical leadership through mentoring, design reviews, and influencing roadmap and architecture decisions.
- Preferred experience with SLMs, fine-tuning, CAG, vector databases, AI observability, multi-agent systems, or AI/ML pipelines.
- Preferred experience with Microsoft Office Add-ins, Office.js, VSTO, .NET Framework, WPF, OAuth, SSO, Redis, Linux, Docker, PowerShell, infrastructure-as-code, automation tooling, performance tuning, and application diagnostics.
- Enterprise SaaS or legaltech, fintech, compliance-heavy, document, contract, or natural-language workload experience is preferred.
