Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction and architecture for AI capabilities across HotDocs.
- Design and ship production-scale AI features using .NET Core, C#, React, and TypeScript.
- Build LLM integrations, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, MCP, and agentic or tool-calling systems.
- Establish evaluation harnesses, guardrails, observability, governance, and quality practices for trustworthy AI.
- Drive effective use of AI across coding, testing, code review, documentation, and other software development lifecycle activities.
- Extend CI/CD pipelines for prompt and model versioning, automated evaluation gates, monitoring, and cost tracking.
- Modernize legacy systems and improve application scalability, performance, security, and reliability.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, pairing, technical sessions, and written guidance.
- Collaborate with product management, architecture, security, DevOps, and customer-facing teams on AI strategy and build-versus-buy decisions.
Requirements
- 12 or more years of professional software development experience, including principal-, lead-, or staff-level technical experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with .NET Core, C#, React, TypeScript, or similar single-page application frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience designing and shipping production AI solutions involving LLM integration, prompt engineering, RAG, MCP, and agentic or tool-calling systems.
- Hands-on experience with cloud AI platforms and services such as Azure OpenAI or AI Foundry and orchestration frameworks such as Semantic Kernel.
- Experience building and maintaining APIs, and proficiency with Entity Framework and Azure SQL or SQL Server.
- Experience evaluating and improving AI system quality through test sets, benchmarking, human review loops, and non-deterministic behavior handling.
- Understanding of web applications, secure coding, prompt injection, AI-specific security, and sensitive customer data handling.
- Experience with Git, pull requests, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps.
- Experience working with Jira and Confluence in agile teams.
- Practical experience using AI tooling within the software development lifecycle and leading team-level adoption.
- Track record of mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, and influencing architecture and roadmap decisions.
- Preferred experience includes SLMs, fine-tuning, CAG, vector databases, AI observability, multi-agent systems, AI/ML pipelines, Microsoft Office Add-ins, .NET Framework, WPF, OAuth, SSO, Redis, Linux, Docker, PowerShell, performance tuning, application diagnostics, infrastructure-as-code, automation tooling, and enterprise SaaS or compliance-heavy domains.
