Software Engineer
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain object-oriented software applications using Python and Java.
- Collaborate with embedded engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate software applications with hardware components.
- Perform software verification and validation to support product quality and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Ensure compliance with coding standards, software development processes, and industry best practices.
- Document software designs, requirements, and test procedures.
- Provide technical support to other teams and stay current with embedded-systems technologies.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and core Java.
- At least 1 year of hands-on software development experience.
- Experience with databases such as Timeseries, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
- Exposure to data science and machine learning algorithms.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices and tools including JIRA and Confluence.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, electronic and communication engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with IEC-61850 standards and knowledge of HVDC systems are preferred.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Git or SVN and experience with Agile software development practices are preferred.
