Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant, highly available backend systems and APIs using Java.
- Design and implement simple, reusable, testable, debuggable, and maintainable software components.
- Write thorough tests, participate in code reviews and design discussions, and uphold coding standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects while documenting software and maintaining inherited code.
- Participate in team planning, prioritization, support ticket reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Develop internal Responsible Gaming tools that integrate with teams across FanDuel’s portfolio and support regulatory requirements across the US and Canada.
- Provide customer support and advocate for customer needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience developing scalable, fault-tolerant, highly available backend systems and APIs with Java.
- Understanding of relational and non-relational databases, messaging queues, and concurrency.
- Knowledge of modern architectures, design patterns, platform nuances, and API/service release processes.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies, preferably AWS.
- Experience with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing best practices into the software development life cycle.
- Strong ownership, urgency, drive, adaptability, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with an Agile environment.
