Responsibilities
- Design and build highly scalable, event-driven microservices supporting real-time customer communications, personalized promotions, and targeted campaign delivery.
- Translate technical designs into clean, secure, stable, well-tested, maintainable code delivered on schedule.
- Simplify existing systems by consolidating redundant systems, removing unnecessary code, and updating outdated documentation.
- Own parts of the product and technology while developing subject-matter expertise.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, scoping, prioritization, planning, and support-ticket reviews.
- Document software clearly and troubleshoot problems to identify swift resolutions.
- Collaborate across the team, surface risks and opportunities, and propose pragmatic technical solutions.
- Estimate stories and tasks and deliver them on time.
- Provide customer support and participate in the organizational on-call support rotation.
- Share knowledge and learnings with the wider team.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong backend experience with Java.
- Understanding of AWS and DevOps concepts, including Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Experience with event streaming technologies such as SNS, SQS, or Kafka.
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, messaging queues, and concurrency.
- Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies.
- Appreciation of orchestration and containerization, ideally Kubernetes.
- Experience with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing best practices into the software development life cycle.
- Familiarity with Agile environments and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
