Responsibilities

  • Design and build highly scalable, event-driven microservices supporting real-time customer communications, personalized promotions, and targeted campaign delivery.
  • Translate technical designs into clean, secure, stable, well-tested, maintainable code delivered on schedule.
  • Simplify existing systems by consolidating redundant systems, removing unnecessary code, and updating outdated documentation.
  • Own parts of the product and technology while developing subject-matter expertise.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, scoping, prioritization, planning, and support-ticket reviews.
  • Document software clearly and troubleshoot problems to identify swift resolutions.
  • Collaborate across the team, surface risks and opportunities, and propose pragmatic technical solutions.
  • Estimate stories and tasks and deliver them on time.
  • Provide customer support and participate in the organizational on-call support rotation.
  • Share knowledge and learnings with the wider team.

Requirements

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong backend experience with Java.
  • Understanding of AWS and DevOps concepts, including Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with event streaming technologies such as SNS, SQS, or Kafka.
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, messaging queues, and concurrency.
  • Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances.
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies.
  • Appreciation of orchestration and containerization, ideally Kubernetes.
  • Experience with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing best practices into the software development life cycle.
  • Familiarity with Agile environments and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
