Responsibilities
- Implement infrastructure as code for database platforms.
- Perform software configuration management for databases.
- Automate database operations, migrations, and AWS database processes.
- Implement monitoring and logging for database technology stacks and container orchestration platforms.
- Provide cloud operations support, including volume lifecycle, autoscaling, cloud configuration, security, and instance lifecycle management.
- Provide technical oversight, architecture, design guidance, interdepartmental coordination, and vendor direction.
- Architect, implement, and maintain automation tools for development and operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues and support automation systems in a 24x7 production environment.
- Establish best practices and standard operating procedures for development, deployment, support, break-fix, and systems management.
- Assess utilization trends and recommend architecture scaling improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience performing systems automation on database platforms.
- At least 3 years of public cloud experience with AWS RDS for highly available, high-throughput mission-critical applications.
- At least 3 years of expert-level experience with Linux, Unix, or Windows systems.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Senior DBA or Database Automation Engineer.
- Expertise designing and configuring mission-critical, highly available, and high-throughput databases.
- Experience leading or working on systems automation and integration teams.
- Proficiency with scripting and programming languages for automation.
- Experience with production systems and resolving production issues.
- Understanding of cloud services and deployment models.
- Preferred experience with RDS, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MySQL, Oracle, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Kinesis, Terraform, Python, and Shell.
- Preferred experience migrating databases from on-premises environments to public cloud.
- AWS Cloud or Terraform certification is preferred.
