Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own production-grade data pipelines, services, and APIs that ingest, transform, and serve data from multiple source systems.
- Design relational and analytical data models and schemas for consistent and performant product data.
- Profile and optimize queries, services, and pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost on large datasets.
- Build automated tests, data validation, monitoring, and alerting, and lead production troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Implement multi-tenant data isolation, access controls, anonymization, and aggregation-threshold privacy safeguards.
- Set technical approaches, lead design and code reviews, and contribute to engineering standards, CI/CD, and documentation.
- Mentor Software Engineers and collaborate with product, design, data science, and QA from concept through production.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant hands-on experience building production data-intensive applications, services, or pipelines.
- Strong proficiency in Python or a comparable language such as Java, C#, or Ruby, with solid software engineering fundamentals.
- Advanced SQL and relational data modeling experience, including query optimization and performance tuning on large datasets.
- Experience with REST APIs, backend services, ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration, incremental processing, data validation, and error handling.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and Docker containerization.
- Working proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot, including reviewing and validating generated code.
- Clear communication, mentoring, technical trade-off explanation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred qualifications include Spark or Airflow experience, multi-tenant SaaS and data isolation experience, analytics or reporting feature development, and enterprise B2B SaaS or legal technology experience.
