Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the Service Desk product architecture across application, platform, and data domains.
- Set technical vision and strategy across multiple teams and services and drive broad architectural decisions.
- Architect, lead, and help implement major features, platform changes, and technology modernization initiatives.
- Stay hands-on in critical code paths across Ruby on Rails and Python services.
- Design AWS cloud-native solutions covering application services, data services, observability, security, and operational resilience.
- Guide database, schema evolution, indexing, data access, and search architecture across MySQL and Elasticsearch.
- Influence product requirements and engineering plans in partnership with Product Management.
- Lead architecture reviews, promote secure-by-design and production-readiness practices, and champion API-contract-driven engineering where appropriate.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers and scale architectural decision-making across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of industry experience, or a master’s degree with 10+ years of industry experience.
- Experience as a Principal Engineer, Architect, or senior technical leader for complex SaaS or enterprise software products.
- Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and experience building and scaling production backend services.
- Experience delivering complex features across backend and frontend layers.
- Strong hands-on experience architecting reliable, scalable, and secure distributed systems on AWS.
- Experience with LLM frameworks or modern AI tooling.
- Deep knowledge of relational databases, especially MySQL, including schema design, performance tuning, and operational considerations.
- Experience influencing architecture across multiple teams and service boundaries.
- Strong communication skills with engineers, product managers, and leadership.
- Experience with ITSM, Service Desk, workflow, ticketing, or operational SaaS products is a plus.
