Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain infrastructure-as-code for AWS GovCloud accounts, networking, and compute using AWS Landing Zone Accelerator-based architecture.
  • Serve as the escalation point for AWS platform architecture, systems design, and technical issues beyond entry-level scope.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for internal engineering teams.
  • Administer AWS accounts, networking, compute, and core services including EC2 and S3.
  • Build and maintain Docker and Kubernetes/EKS container platforms.
  • Manage AWS IAM and support SSO, SAML, and SCIM integrations using least-privilege access practices.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and observability with tools such as CloudWatch, and investigate incidents and performance data.
  • Implement disaster recovery, backup automation, and business continuity plans for cloud environments.
  • Develop internal tooling and self-service capabilities for safe, automated AWS platform access.
  • Recommend platform engineering strategies, tooling, and standards, and provide technical guidance to entry-level platform and IT engineers.
  • Maintain working familiarity with Azure and Microsoft 365 administration for occasional cross-platform workloads.
  • Communicate project progress, status, and issues to stakeholders and leadership, and maintain project management practices throughout the lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering Science, or Engineering Management, 4+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The majority of experience should involve building and operating production workloads on AWS.
  • Deep hands-on AWS administration expertise across IAM, VPC networking, EC2/compute, S3, and core services.
  • Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation and configuration management such as Ansible or an equivalent.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins, plus Python or Bash scripting proficiency.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, or equivalent container and orchestration technologies.
  • Experience designing AWS IAM users, groups, roles, and least-privilege policies.
  • Working knowledge of Azure cloud administration and Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and OneDrive administration.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux servers, IT security, firewall management, backup administration, wired and wireless networking, DHCP, DNS, VMware or equivalent virtualization, Windows Update or third-party patch management, and cloud storage administration.
  • Strong organization, proactive problem-solving, collaboration, technical rigor, and execution skills are required.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator certifications are strongly preferred.
  • Candidates must satisfy any applicable export-control screening requirements for access to ITAR, EAR, or NASA-regulated technical data.
