Base Salary
$176k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain production-grade Python services and APIs for enterprise machine learning platforms.
- Architect and implement high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems in AWS environments.
- Build cloud-native applications using EKS, ECS, MSK, SQS, and S3.
- Develop reusable service frameworks, shared libraries, and modular application components.
- Implement infrastructure as code with Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Create monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability solutions using Datadog, Dynatrace, and Splunk.
- Deploy and support production applications while meeting service-level objectives and agreements.
- Implement secure engineering practices, automated testing, CI/CD, blue/green deployments, and canary releases.
- Review code, provide architectural guidance, mentor engineers, and promote software engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, platform engineering teams, and site reliability engineers.
- Drive adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering practices.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, object-oriented design, and modular software architecture.
- Experience building and operating large-scale, high-performance cloud-native services in AWS.
- Hands-on experience with EKS, ECS, MSK/Kafka, SQS, and S3.
- Strong experience with Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- Expertise designing, deploying, and supporting distributed production systems.
- Experience with Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, or comparable observability platforms.
- Strong understanding of API design, microservices architecture, and scalable system design.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and secure software engineering practices.
- Experience using approved AI-assisted software development tools for coding, review, testing, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, application security, resiliency, compliance, and engineering mentorship.
- Preferred experience with resiliency patterns, self-healing architectures, backpressure management, idempotency, Kafka-based event-driven systems, operational runbooks, release automation, generative AI, and LLM technologies.
