Responsibilities
- Design, write, and tune Essbase calc scripts covering block creation, sparse/dense design, aggregation, allocations, and currency logic.
- Build Groovy business rules for dynamic calculations, data validation, edited-cell calculations, data maps, Smart Push, REST calls, and administration automation.
- Select and implement the appropriate calc script, Groovy rule, member formula, or integration approach for each problem.
- Improve rule and form performance and communicate performance improvements.
- Build and maintain member formulas, webforms, and Smart View reports.
- Manage dimensions and hierarchies in Planning and EDMCS.
- Automate processes using EPM Automate and REST APIs.
- Partner with FP&A and Accounting to convert business requirements into working solutions.
- Act as a technical lead and establish standards for rule writing, testing, and documentation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on Oracle Hyperion/EPM Planning experience, including Cloud EPM such as PBCS or EPBCS.
- Strong hands-on experience writing complex calc scripts from scratch and understanding Essbase blocks and performance.
- Strong hands-on experience writing Groovy rules in Oracle EPM Cloud beyond basic templates.
- At least one complete Planning implementation involving building rules rather than only supporting them.
- Experience with Financials, Workforce, or custom Planning applications.
- Working knowledge of EDMCS, Data Management/Data Integration, EPM Automate, and REST APIs.
- Ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to finance users.
- Preferred qualifications include FCCS, Essbase BSO/ASO tuning, D365 or Databricks integration experience, and Oracle EPM certifications.
