Base Salary
$185k - $320k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead large-scale cross-functional initiatives spanning frontend, backend, and system architecture from technical vision through production deployment and long-term evolution
- Define and drive the full-stack technical roadmap, architectural strategy, engineering patterns, frameworks, and systems
- Serve as the primary technical decision-maker for cross-stack architecture and technology adoption
- Identify technical debt, scalability challenges, and architectural limitations, then secure alignment and lead multi-quarter remediation initiatives
- Mentor engineers across frontend and backend disciplines and develop emerging technical leaders
- Partner with executive leadership, product, design, space operations, and astrodynamics teams to influence product and company direction
- Establish metrics, tooling, and processes that improve code quality, reliability, deployment velocity, and developer experience
- Build technical documentation, architectural decision records, and knowledge-sharing systems
- Represent full-stack engineering in strategic planning, resource allocation, and cross-company technical decisions
- Lead incident response, post-mortems, architectural reviews, migrations, and cross-stack technical initiatives
Requirements
- 12+ years of software development experience across frontend and backend development
- Expertise in HTML/CSS, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, Elixir, and OTP, including runtime, performance, and scalability concepts
- Deep experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems and integration architectures
- Experience establishing full-stack unit, integration, property-based, and end-to-end testing strategies
- Experience with component libraries, design systems, service architectures, and internal infrastructure serving multiple teams
- Expertise with gRPC, REST, WebSockets, GraphQL, API contracts, and cross-stack architecture decisions
- Experience leading technical initiatives, Git-based workflows, code review standards, and engineering culture improvements
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar discipline
- Preferred: experience as a technical lead, staff engineer, or principal engineer on business-critical production systems
- Preferred: experience leading large-scale migrations, architectural overhauls, or platform rewrites
- Preferred: expertise in data-intensive applications, Three.js, React Three Fiber, WebGL, and shader programming
- Preferred: advanced OTP, BEAM, PostgreSQL, observability, distributed tracing, incident response, UI/UX, Figma, and regulated-industry experience
- Preferred: published technical writing, open-source contributions, or conference speaking
