Responsibilities
- Develop PLC software and control logic for machine functions.
- Design, program, and modularize PLC applications according to IEC 61131-3 using Structured Text and object-oriented programming.
- Develop and maintain simulation concepts for PLC-controlled machine functions.
- Perform requirements analysis, software design, development, and unit testing.
- Understand and modify existing software and acquire technical knowledge of LIS product software.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Provide technical expertise for estimation and project planning, and identify and mitigate technical risks with the Software Manager.
- Follow defined software development processes and propose improvements to development procedures.
- Collaborate with system engineering, PLC/software, application software, hardware, electronics, development-site, and partner teams.
- Travel to Germany, the United States, and other customer locations for short-term assignments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- At least five years of PLC development experience using the IEC 61131-3 standard.
- Hands-on experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT or other PLC development systems and fieldbus fundamentals.
- Knowledge of software development life-cycle practices and software engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience in software analysis, design, development, and unit testing.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and project management across business and technical areas.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Preferred experience with hardware-in-the-loop or automated PLC testing.
- Preferred knowledge of C#, Python, C/C++, and Windows Internals.
- Preferred knowledge of EtherCAT and CANOpen.
