Base Salary
$220k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own significant technical domains end to end, including architecture, implementation, and long-term system health.
- Make and communicate high-impact design decisions across teams and stakeholders.
- Drive improvements to performance, scalability, and reliability before they become incidents.
- Collaborate with product, engineering leadership, and customers to scope problems and deliver business-impacting solutions.
- Raise the technical bar through code reviews, design feedback, and direct mentorship.
- Work autonomously to identify and solve important problems without waiting for assigned tickets.
- Depending on team placement, build AI telemetry agents, Kubernetes metric agents, billing ingestion and query infrastructure, platform services, billing integrations, or customer-facing cost optimization features.
Requirements
- Significant experience building and operating production backend systems at scale.
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or another backend language, with the ability to reason about unfamiliar systems and languages.
- Deep familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, distributed systems, and scalability tradeoffs.
- Production experience with data pipelines, ETL frameworks, or stream processing.
- Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in data platform work, including the ability to explain workflows and failure modes.
- Experience building a library, pattern, or service adopted by other internal teams.
- Ability to communicate technical complexity clearly to engineers, product teams, and leadership.
- Demonstrated track record of shipping production software.
- Bonus: experience with agents, telemetry systems, observability tooling, Kubernetes, AWS Step Functions, AWS Lambda, event-driven architectures, FinOps, billing systems, financial data infrastructure, ML pipelines, or AI workload cost modeling.
