Responsibilities
- Design and optimize real-time ad serving, auction, and ranking systems with p99 latency targets.
- Identify and solve complex ad performance problems affecting millions of users or transactions.
- Collaborate with advertising data teams to integrate data-driven solutions into the ad platform.
- Build experimentation tooling for ad A/B testing.
- Document technical insights and share engineering best practices.
- Participate in on-call work to maintain the reliability and performance of Shopify’s ad systems.
Requirements
- Demonstrate strong software engineering proficiency and a passion for exploring technology limits.
- Have experience with streaming and low-latency systems, feature stores, and high-QPS caches or key-value stores.
- Have experience building scalable, ad-centric applications for commerce experiences.
- Demonstrate problem-solving ability and innovative thinking in advertising technology.
- Communicate technical ideas effectively.
- Preferred: understand advertising metrics and levers including CTR, CVR, CPC, CPM, CPA, eCPM, ROAS, LTV, win rate, fill rate, and pacing accuracy.
