Responsibilities
- Lead an engineering squad by setting technical direction, prioritizing delivery, running design and code reviews, and mentoring engineers.
- Own the architecture and production health of activation and orchestration services, APIs, databases, gateways, integrations, and workflow components.
- Design and maintain partner API integrations covering authentication, rate limiting, idempotency, retries, versioning, and operational monitoring.
- Establish production standards for CI/CD, testing, observability, auditability, and safe releases.
- Collaborate with Product and sibling teams to turn roadmaps into shippable, versioned contracts.
- Track data flows, dependencies, technical debt, reliability risks, and system health across activation infrastructure.
- Contribute hands-on to critical paths, gateways, framework foundations, tool registries, workflow runtimes, and guardrails hooks.
- Share technical knowledge, communicate trade-offs, and escalate blockers with clear options.
- Explore durable workflows, agentic orchestration, prompt engineering, and AI coding assistants to improve team productivity.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years leading engineers or owning a significant technical area.
- Proven experience delivering backend and API-centric systems in production at meaningful scale.
- Strong experience with REST/HTTP APIs, event- or workflow-driven systems, durable state, asynchronous jobs, and orchestration.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python, Go, or Java/Kotlin.
- Experience with CI/CD, Git, unit testing, integration testing, and boundary or contract testing.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, plus containers and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code such as Terraform and production observability using metrics, logs, and tracing.
- Track record of owning technical debt, reliability, incidents, postmortems, and systemic fixes.
- Strong communication skills for explaining trade-offs and aligning engineering, Product, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience leading orchestration, workflow, or agentic systems; full-stack exposure; AdTech or MarTech; monorepos; privacy-aware distributed systems; audit trails; or decision logs.
- Interest in AI coding assistants and prompt engineering, with attention to maintaining production quality.
