Base Salary
$161k - $193k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and own backend services and data pipelines for map validation and simulation.
- Provide technical leadership for scalable web-based annotation tooling and review workflows.
- Design data models and storage architectures across relational, spatial, and large-scale object stores.
- Build high-performance point-cloud and image rendering with three.js/WebGL, including streaming, prefetching, sensor projection, and overlays.
- Use AWS services to build and deploy scalable, reliable pipelines and services.
- Drive architecture and technical design decisions across the map validation and annotation platforms.
- Collaborate with Mapping, Simulation, Annotation, and Perception teams.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and pairing.
- Reduce technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and reliability gaps and lead production incident response.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend services at scale.
- Expertise in Python and strong proficiency with SQL.
- Experience building web services and APIs for web-based tooling, with strong TypeScript knowledge; full-stack experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of C++ or ability to ramp into it.
- Strong database and data-modeling expertise, including PostgreSQL or similar systems.
- Experience designing complex multi-service or multi-pipeline architectures.
- Proficiency with Git and GitHub.
- Familiarity with JIRA or similar project-management tools.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and reliability engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience includes annotation or labeling platforms, PostGIS, large binary or sensor datasets, point-cloud rendering, browser-based 3D graphics, HD maps, robotics data ecosystems, and autonomous vehicles.
- Open-source contributions in geospatial, data engineering, simulation, robotics, or annotation projects are a bonus.
