Responsibilities
- Plan, recommend, and execute strategic projects to improve the Esper Platform.
- Own end-to-end implementation and maintenance of platform features, fixes, and enhancements.
- Use metrics and data to analyze customer usage, bottlenecks, requirements, security, and scalability.
- Create engineering standards, guidelines, sample projects, and demos that promote stable, secure, maintainable, and quality code.
- Use artificial intelligence to address business issues, improve SLOs, and reduce MTTR.
- Work with distributed teams on production incidents, including writing root-cause analyses and coordinating resolution.
- Evaluate technologies, tools, frameworks, and design patterns for adoption into the platform.
- Serve as the Platform team’s subject-matter expert and participate in PagerDuty on-call shifts.
Requirements
- 6–8 years of software engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience building and managing cloud systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Hands-on knowledge of scripting or modern programming languages.
- Experience developing and deploying on UNIX/Linux systems.
- Hands-on experience with microservices and container technologies.
- Understanding of infrastructure-as-code, automation, and CI/CD workflows.
- Hands-on experience managing highly scalable web systems and troubleshooting issues.
- Preferred experience with AWS, Python, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
- Experience defining and driving metrics for successful product releases.
- Understanding of SLO, SLI, and SLA metrics and mechanisms to track and improve them.
- Contributions to one or more open-source projects are preferred.
