Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end development of ultra-low-power wireless embedded devices from architecture through high-volume production.
  • Write and optimize production-ready C code for systems running TI-RTOS and Zephyr RTOS.
  • Architect, implement, and refine a proprietary sub-GHz wireless protocol while evaluating technical tradeoffs.
  • Apply math and physics to power accounting and systems-of-systems optimization in resource-constrained environments.
  • Design and implement HIL/SIL testing frameworks to validate fail-safe embedded code before V&V handoff.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, industrial design, and verification/validation teams on product development.
  • Use Git, Python, Bash, and Linux to maintain codebases, automate workflows, analyze data, and improve development processes.
  • Perform hands-on board bring-up and system debugging to integrate hardware and software.
  • Lead, mentor, document, and communicate effectively across teams while owning complex technical problems.
  • Support schematic and board-layout work, RF compliance testing, overseas vendors, and manufacturing processes as needed.

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or proven exceptional ability through experience.
  • At least 6 years of embedded software development experience.
  • Deep expertise in C and real-time operating systems, particularly TI-RTOS and Zephyr RTOS.
  • Proficiency with Git, Python, Bash, and Linux.
  • Experience delivering production-grade code with rigorous HIL/SIL testing.
  • Strong systems-level thinking for ultra-low-power wireless designs and solid math and physics fundamentals.
  • Experience or interest in setting up and deploying AI-assisted testing systems is a bonus.
  • Experience with schematic capture and board layout using Altium.
  • Familiarity with engineering design and analysis using spreadsheets, including power budgeting and system modeling.
  • Knowledge of ultra-low-power wireless protocols such as IEEE 802.15.4, BLE, and 900MHz technologies.
  • Familiarity with RF design and compliance testing.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, independent learning, organization, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Startup experience, overseas vendor and manufacturing support, mentoring junior engineers, cross-functional leadership, and relevant personal projects are helpful.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and a generous equity share package.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • In-office lunch and quarterly office-wide activities.
  • Worldwide ski/snowboard pass.
  • The role is based in an in-office startup environment.
