Responsibilities
- Work on model hosting and inference optimization through profiling, benchmarking, quantization, distillation, and other techniques.
- Build or extend orchestration frameworks and agent workflows using tools such as LangGraph and LangChain.
- Customize and fine-tune pre-trained language models, evaluate results, and iterate on model configurations.
- Collaborate with system software, design, and product teams and communicate technical progress and decisions.
- Contribute to open-source projects or internal libraries related to inference, orchestration, or model training.
- Take ownership of outcomes and help improve platform capabilities and reliability.
Requirements
- Currently pursue a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience.
- Have coursework or project experience in machine learning, systems engineering, or software development.
- Demonstrate familiarity with model inference and optimization, orchestration frameworks, model fine-tuning, or similar systems-level AI work.
- Communicate project goals, outcomes, challenges, and technical decisions clearly.
- Demonstrate collaboration, ownership, debugging, and technical tradeoff evaluation skills.
- Preferred: open-source contributions to inference engines, model repositories, or orchestration libraries.
- Preferred: experience with Python and libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace, or FastAPI.
- Preferred: familiarity with on-device or edge AI constraints, optimization techniques, system profiling, and performance optimization.
Benefits
- Hourly pay is listed at $45.00–$51.00 per hour.
- The 2027 internship runs from May/June through August/September 2027, with final dates based on student schedules.
