Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support fault-tolerant, scalable distributed metadata systems.
- Own architecture and design, influence the product roadmap, and identify new high-impact projects.
- Analyze and resolve fault-tolerance, high-availability, performance, and scale challenges.
- Balance consistency, performance, and cost when designing solutions for rapidly growing services.
- Ensure operational readiness and meet customer commitments for durability, availability, and performance.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers.
Requirements
- 15+ years of industry experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale distributed services.
- Deep expertise in database-system internals, including metadata management, clustering, compaction, catalogs, storage, and replication.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure concepts including multithreading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Fluency in Java or a similar procedural object-oriented language is preferred.
- Track record of implementing creative solutions to complex problems at cloud scale.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams in multiple locations.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
