Responsibilities
- Maintain the distributed Kubernetes- and cloud-integrated control plane for managed TimescaleDB services.
- Debug and resolve Kubernetes issues across multiple regions and cloud providers.
- Automate database lifecycle operations including deployment, resizing, upgrades, and forks.
- Participate in on-call rotation, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Develop Go backend features, Kubernetes controllers, operators, and CRDs.
- Improve observability, monitoring, deployment reliability, error handling, and CLI tooling.
- Collaborate on scalable microservice and distributed-system architecture with infrastructure and software engineering teams.
- Write unit and integration tests, maintain over 80% code coverage, conduct peer reviews, and enforce Go/Kubernetes best practices.
- Support security compliance and vulnerability management.
Requirements
- 3+ years of software or platform engineering experience.
- 2+ years of production Go experience and advanced proficiency with Go 1.24+.
- 2+ years of Kubernetes operations experience, including building, debugging, and scaling clusters.
- Experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures.
- Experience developing Kubernetes CRDs, controllers, and operators using client-go and controller-runtime.
- Production PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB administration, migration, replication, backup and restore, disaster recovery, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience developing services and defining schemas with gRPC and Protobufs.
- Strong Linux, Bash, container-environment, and Kubernetes lifecycle knowledge.
- Experience with Helm Charts, CI/CD automation, monitoring and observability, infrastructure as code, and Kubernetes cluster management.
- PostgreSQL experience without dependence on ORMs is required.
- Rust and ECPG experience, cloud provider expertise, self-hosted Kubernetes experience, CNI/CSI knowledge, Kubernetes core-component tuning, or database-as-a-service experience are pluses.
