Remote, EMEASenior
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, pipeline design, latency budget, and realtime-loop reliability of the open-source speech-to-speech library.
- Integrate ASR, TTS, and end-to-end speech models while maintaining clean abstractions.
- Review community pull requests, triage issues, cut releases, and grow the contributor community.
- Design hf-voice developer APIs, streaming protocols, session lifecycle, transport, authentication, error semantics, and versioning.
- Build realtime GPU inference serving with concurrency, autoscaling, observability, and cost-per-session controls.
- Collaborate with Hub and inference teams to make voice-agent integration straightforward.
- Take hf-voice from demo to production through load testing, SLOs, and graceful degradation.
- Write documentation, examples, and templates; support existing deployments; and optionally present the work publicly.
Requirements
- Senior-level ownership of a substantial architecture and the ability to drive work autonomously.
- Experience building developer-facing infrastructure at an AI or developer-tools company, such as inference APIs or agent infrastructure.
- Substantial open-source contributions to a Python library and comfort with async Python and distributed systems failure modes.
- Experience shipping realtime systems involving streaming, WebSockets, WebRTC, audio or video pipelines, or live inference.
- Practical production experience with LLMs or multimodal models.
- Clear written communication and experience collaborating asynchronously and publicly.
- Motivation to work on voice and conversational AI.
- Bonus qualifications include voice-agent framework contributions, llama.cpp or other low-level inference runtime work, ASR/TTS experience, GPU serving, quantization, on-device inference, audio pipeline expertise, embedded or robotics deployment, and a public record of talks, blog posts, or demos.
Benefits
- Fully remote work with flexible working hours; the role is based in the EMEA region.
- Health, dental, and vision benefits for employees and dependents.
- Parental leave and flexible paid time off.
- Reimbursement for relevant conferences, training, and education.
- Access to NYC and Paris offices and opportunities for remote employees to visit them.
- Workstation outfitting when needed.
- Company equity for all employees.
