Responsibilities

  • Develop application software and firmware in C for embedded controllers and microprocessor/microcontroller-based prototypes.
  • Design control algorithms, communication interfaces, and related system interfaces.
  • Develop firmware and software modules, maintain documentation, and manage firmware repositories.
  • Create, conduct, and evaluate firmware and hardware test specifications for systems and prototypes.
  • Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to define controls interfaces and algorithms.
  • Use simulation tools, troubleshoot designs, participate in design reviews, and support applications engineering.
  • Perform occasional travel to Generac facilities and customer sites, expected to be less than 10%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a directly related engineering discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience with embedded programming using C, C++, or C#.
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work accurately and solve basic engineering problems using engineering principles.
  • Basic knowledge of communication protocols and hardware interfaces.
  • Preferred experience with RTOS, state machines, algorithm design, microprocessor hardware interfacing, new product development, and microcontroller debugging tools.
  • Preferred working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink, Python, server administration, GitHub and repository management, and basic machine learning.
