Responsibilities
- Develop application software and firmware in C for embedded controllers and microprocessor/microcontroller-based prototypes.
- Design control algorithms, communication interfaces, and related system interfaces.
- Develop firmware and software modules, maintain documentation, and manage firmware repositories.
- Create, conduct, and evaluate firmware and hardware test specifications for systems and prototypes.
- Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to define controls interfaces and algorithms.
- Use simulation tools, troubleshoot designs, participate in design reviews, and support applications engineering.
- Perform occasional travel to Generac facilities and customer sites, expected to be less than 10%.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a directly related engineering discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience with embedded programming using C, C++, or C#.
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work accurately and solve basic engineering problems using engineering principles.
- Basic knowledge of communication protocols and hardware interfaces.
- Preferred experience with RTOS, state machines, algorithm design, microprocessor hardware interfacing, new product development, and microcontroller debugging tools.
- Preferred working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink, Python, server administration, GitHub and repository management, and basic machine learning.
