Responsibilities
- Design and develop performance-optimized ABAP solutions for SAP HANA using pushdown principles.
- Build data models and reusable artifacts with CDS views, associations, annotations, semantics, and authorization concepts.
- Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP and SQLScript and develop modular, testable, maintainable ABAP code.
- Build versioned services and APIs using OData and modern contract-first service patterns.
- Develop AI-enabled SAP experiences with LLM integration, tool-calling orchestration, retrieval grounding, prompts, context assembly, and deterministic fallbacks.
- Create automated unit, integration, and contract tests plus AI evaluation harnesses using golden datasets, scenario tests, and monitoring.
- Implement AI guardrails including authorization-aware filtering, redaction, action confirmations, and audit logging.
- Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces; implement retries, idempotency, correlation IDs, safe failure modes, and operational diagnostics.
- Integrate SAP services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, cloud runtimes, API gateways, and enterprise integration platforms.
- Collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams to evolve prototypes into secure, scalable production systems.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of professional experience is required.
- 15 years of full-time education is required.
- Strong hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS views and modern enterprise data modeling, including associations, annotations, semantics, and authorization concepts.
- Experience with AMDP and SQLScript for controlled code pushdown and performance-critical scenarios.
- Strong software engineering discipline, including clean design, testing, production readiness, and secure coding practices.
- Experience building AI-native capabilities with LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.
- Knowledge of OData and service design, API lifecycle management, contract-first development, SAP security and authorizations, compliance, performance benchmarking, load testing, and query-plan tuning is beneficial.
- Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is beneficial.
