Responsibilities
- Define and lead the technical strategy for AI and machine learning systems powering recommendations, ranking, personalization, engagement, and safety.
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable production ML models and AI agents using foundational and fine-tuned large language models.
- Architect end-to-end ML pipelines covering data processing, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
- Drive experimentation frameworks including A/B testing and offline evaluation to improve model and product outcomes.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data leadership to translate business challenges into impactful ML solutions.
- Mentor senior individual contributors and promote technical excellence, curiosity, inclusion, and continuous learning.
- Own complex initiatives from insight through measurable impact while adapting approaches as needed.
- Champion fairness, transparency, responsible AI, and user safety across machine learning systems.
Requirements
- Typically 10–15 years of experience, or an alternative background demonstrating equivalent skills.
- Deep expertise building and deploying large-scale machine learning systems in production.
- Strong proficiency in Python and at least one major ML framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience with recommendation systems, ranking models, or NLP.
- Expertise prompting and fine-tuning large language models and building production AI agents.
- Experience designing scalable data and ML pipelines using Spark, Airflow, or similar distributed systems.
- Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor and influence technical strategy without direct authority.
- Experience collaborating across Product, Engineering, and Data functions in complex organizational environments.
- Track record of mentoring and uplifting others while building inclusive, high-performing teams.
- Ability to independently design, evaluate, and optimize ML systems and guide responsible AI application.
