Responsibilities
- Implement and optimize machine learning models and AI systems, translating research prototypes into production-quality code.
- Design and run controlled experiments to evaluate model performance and validate research hypotheses.
- Build and maintain AI pipelines covering data preprocessing, model training, evaluation, and inference.
- Instrument AI systems with logging, monitoring, and alerting to detect production regressions.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in model training and inference pipelines.
- Collaborate with research scientists, product engineers, and data scientists to deliver AI-powered features.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
- Support safe model rollouts using feature flagging and staged deployment frameworks.
Requirements
- Currently holds or is pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field, or has equivalent practical experience; the degree must be completed before joining Meta.
- Experience implementing machine learning models or AI systems in Python using PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience writing automated tests, debugging model or pipeline issues, and ensuring AI system reliability.
- Experience with data analysis and experimentation, including A/B tests or model evaluation experiments.
- Experience building and maintaining production-quality code and participating in code reviews.
- Preferred: experience with large-scale model training, distributed computing frameworks, or inference optimization such as quantization or distillation.
- Preferred: familiarity with experiment tracking, model registries, or feature stores.
- Preferred: experience applying AI or machine learning to ranking, recommendation, natural language processing, or computer vision.
- Preferred: graduate degree in computer science related to machine learning or artificial intelligence.
- Preferred: exposure to responsible AI principles such as fairness evaluation, model interpretability, or privacy-preserving machine learning.
