Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain software for the YouVersion Family of Apps.
- Own technical designs and communicate project tradeoffs.
- Review, test, and approve code for quality and consistency.
- Partner with engineers on technical approaches and development plans.
- Support and mentor junior and mid-level engineers without formal authority.
- Maintain consistency in technical direction across the team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across systems.
- Improve team practices, tools, and processes.
- Explore opportunities to apply AI/ML to improve mobile experiences.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering experience delivering reliable, scalable solutions.
- Ability to own technical decisions and work through tradeoffs.
- Ability to guide and support engineers without formal authority.
- Clear communication skills for explaining complex concepts.
- Self-motivation, initiative, and follow-through.
- Alignment with Life.Church’s mission and desire to help people grow in their faith.
- Comfort experimenting with new tools and technologies, including AI-assisted development.
- Mobile development experience with Flutter/Dart, iOS/Swift, or Android.
- High school diploma or GED and a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least 3 years of related work experience.
- Track record of contributing to production systems and team success.
