Base Salary

$115k - $135k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop bare-metal C/C++ firmware for STM32H7 microcontrollers, from pin assignment and board bring-up through peripheral drivers and debugging.
  • Support legacy firmware products and analyze older designs with limited documentation.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on new electronic boards from pin definition through firmware delivery.
  • Develop and improve a Windows-based C++ graphical user interface with Ethernet, CAN, serial, command, scripting, and real-time graphing capabilities.
  • Create and maintain requirements, architecture, interface, test, release, and customer documentation.
  • Manage code in Git with traceability from requirements through releases.
  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support and train customer engineers to use company interfaces.
  • Set priorities across multiple projects as the group's firmware owner and sole firmware engineer.
  • Travel as required for projects and customer support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field is required; a master's degree is desired.
  • Minimum of 8 years of firmware development and application-support experience for complex electromechanical or control systems.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++, including Windows application development.
  • Experience with bare-metal firmware on STM32 or similar ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers, microcontroller architecture, digital circuit design, and board bring-up from schematics.
  • Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet communication protocols; EtherCAT experience is a plus.
  • Experience with bootloader development and Git.
  • FPGA experience is a plus.
  • Experience with motion control and/or control systems; thermal systems experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, engineering judgment, ownership, prioritization, and ability to work with ambiguous or poorly documented codebases.
  • Excellent English communication skills; German and/or French is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as required for projects and customer support.
