Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, document, and maintain complex applications supporting ERCOT business and market needs.
- Conduct software development lifecycle activities including analysis, design, testing, integration, performance monitoring, and product evaluation.
- Build, scale, troubleshoot, and develop observability for high-volume, high-performance data-handling applications.
- Design component and data architectures and make buy-versus-build recommendations.
- Package applications, write deployment and operational automation, and build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, usability engineers, development teams, business users, and external users to ensure quality product delivery.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and provide guidance, mentoring, coaching, and training to other team members.
- Research and incorporate new technologies and tools while maintaining architectural and technical standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of job-related work experience beyond degree requirements for the Senior level; the posting also describes an 8-year requirement for Lead level.
- Experience with modern integration patterns and event-based architectures such as messaging or streaming.
- Modern LTS Java experience, including Java 17, 21, or 25, and modern Spring Boot experience, including Spring Boot 3.x or 4.x.
- Container-based development experience and experience with packaging applications, deployment automation, operational automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience building, scaling, observing, and troubleshooting high-volume, high-performance data-handling applications and relational-database-backed applications.
- Preferred experience with Apache Kafka, JMS/AMQP, OpenShift, Azure Kubernetes Service, Docker Desktop, Docker Compose, Fedora-family operating systems, Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Azure, SQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
- Ability to serve as a subject matter expert, communicate team goals, advise stakeholders, and resolve moderately complex technical issues.
