Responsibilities
- Own the Clearisq codebase technically within CCEU Software Engineering.
- Define and maintain the target architecture across quantitative models, data pipelines and analytics, and platform services and integrations.
- Drive architectural decision records and alignment with CCEU architecture governance.
- Set engineering standards for correctness, performance, testing, observability, availability, determinism, and auditability.
- Own the technical approach to numerical correctness, reproducibility, and explainability of calculations.
- Manage technical debt, lifecycle concerns, and vendor-originated legacy code.
- Use and promote AI-assisted engineering for code comprehension, development, refactoring, test generation, log analysis, performance investigation, and incident learning.
- Establish guardrails for safe, secure, and correct use of AI-generated output.
- Collaborate with the Quant Engineer to translate risk methodology into robust software and maintain separation between model logic and platform mechanics.
- Serve as the technical interface between Software Engineering, Risk, Quant, Operations, and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong experience designing and owning complex backend systems in Java, with Python exposure strongly preferred.
- Proven experience with data-heavy, computation-intensive platforms.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, testing strategies, and system observability.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in the daily engineering workflow and critically evaluating AI-generated output.
- Strong foundation in data structures, numerical computing, and analytical problem-solving.
- Ability to reason about quantitative models and experience collaborating with quants or risk model developers are highly desirable.
- Experience in regulated or high-risk environments is a strong advantage.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, technical leadership ability, constructive challenge, pragmatism, accountability, and strong ownership.
