Responsibilities
- Write functional, design, and test-plan specifications for EOS networking features.
- Implement software solutions using C, C++, and Python.
- Develop automated tests, monitor test execution, debug failures, and fix defects.
- Implement, test, and debug routing protocol and distributed-systems solutions.
- Analyze customer and system-test networking problems and provide software releases or patches.
- Mentor new and junior engineers and review team specifications and implementations.
- Create, update, and report implementation and debugging schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering plus 8 years of experience; alternatively, a master’s degree plus 6 years, a Ph.D. plus 3 years, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of C, C++, and/or Python and UNIX or Linux.
- Understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, with knowledge of routing protocols or Layer 2 networking features desirable.
- Ability to utilize, test, and debug packet forwarding engines and vendor-provided hardware component software libraries.
- Knowledge of distributed-systems infrastructure functions such as messaging, signalling, databases, and command-line interfaces.
- Hands-on experience designing and developing Ethernet bridging, routing, or distributed-systems software is desirable.
- Experience developing enterprise or service-provider Ethernet switch/router system software, or significant Ph.D.-level research in network routing and packet forwarding, is desirable.
- Applied understanding of software engineering principles and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently design and implement small solutions and contribute to medium-sized problems with limited oversight.
