Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop OpenEdge Development Tools features.
- Lead the evolution of development features focused on performance, usability, and diagnostics.
- Integrate AI-powered features into the OpenEdge Developer Tools ecosystem using concepts such as RAG and MCP.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the development team.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA, and UX teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Analyze and optimize performance using profiling tools and diagnostic frameworks.
- Maintain quality through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration pipelines.
- Apply secure coding, vulnerability assessment, static analysis, and dynamic analysis practices.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and promote continuous engineering improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- At least 6 years of professional experience in a product development organization.
- Proficiency in Java and willingness to learn JavaScript, TypeScript, and other relevant technologies.
- Experience developing VS Code extensions or Eclipse plugins, with knowledge of LSP and DAP.
- Strong web development foundation including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, RESTful services, React, or Angular.
- Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, software architecture, databases, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT.
- Familiarity with Node.js and modern JavaScript frameworks used in IDE tooling or developer platforms.
- Working knowledge of build automation and version control systems such as Git.
- Expertise in profiling, diagnostics, and JVM memory performance optimization.
- Awareness of OWASP Top 10, dependency scanning, secure coding standards, and software security best practices.
- Experience with Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, communicate, and collaborate on cross-functional teams.
